Ever noticed that almost every reality star is FROM L.A.? You may not have noticed if you didn’t go to school with ten of them — but we did and we are here to take you on a deeper look at all the L.A. Natives from Beverly High, Crossroads (Spencer Pratt, Roxy, Whitney Port), Buckley (Paris Hilton, Kim Stewart, Nichole Richie), Malibu (Brody Jenner, Chad Rogers) and somewhere deep in Calabasas (Kim Kardashian) who have single-handedly created a world of reality shows between them and their friends – ALL STARTING WITH PARIS.

In 2004, when I was at The Lounge on a Thursday, or a Monday (thank you Bolthouse), Paris would strut in with Kim Stewart, Nichole Richie, Caroline d’Amore, her sister Nicky Hilton, Kim Kardashian, etc. and pose. Seriously, always posing. Awesome and hilarious I always thought. The paps out back Jen Rosero use to hold at bay with her giant fist would DIE over Paris coming out – cause she’s model tall and model thin and model pretty. Add in a household name and you have a celebrity.

Enter Untitled Management – the “IT” Management company of the day who was sister companies with Maverick Films (Madonna) who was still in it’s infancy and later turned into Mark Morgan films (my old boss – love Mark) who is responsible for a little series called TWILIGHT. Jason Moore at Untiled Management was very looped in, very charismatic, all over town, knew everyone, etc and basically turned local celebrity into household name.

Paris is like the Dr Dre of reality stars because for every person she makes famous, they make three people famous, and they make three people famous! Paris even has a mentor who brought her up (not really but) Jamie Johnson paved way for it to drool over “children of” on TV and was too ahead of his time, with his sort of weird, kind of amazing doc Born Rich (2003), about NY kids.

• From Paris The Simple Life was born and Nicole Richie got famous, from Nicole, Rachel Zoe (her stylist) got famous .. Taylor Jacobson (Beverly Hills High), is Rachels assistant on “The Rachel Zoe Project.” From Nicole Richie, the much loved Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM (RIP) got famous and was eventually given his own MTV show Gone Too Far which was aired after his death
• From Paris, Kim Stewart got famous who’s little brother Sean Stewart then also got famous.
• From Paris, Nicky Hilton got famous and from her, David Katzenberg (her bf got famous – watch for his new MTV show HARD TIMES.
• From Paris, Caroline d’Amore got famous and she had a little Miami show she hosted briefly but also got famous for being hot, being a hot Dj, and being – BY FAR – the sassiest girl on the catlwalk every year Smashbox had LA Fashion Week, and at every To Be Free show (when Spin Shoppe and The Alliance use to host), etc.
• Simple Life paves the way for Filthy Rich cattle drive - Courtenay Semel, Kourtney Kardashian are cast.
• From Paris, Kim Kardashian got famous – Keeping up with the Kardashians is born
• Keeping up with the Kardashians paves the way for Pretty Wild with that wacky Alexis Mieiers from (or maybe not) The Bling Ring (who robbed Orlando Bloom, etc.)
• From Paris, Brody Jenner (Kim Kardashian’s step-brother) got famous. Those two were friends from high school days and Spencer who was bbfs with Brody sort of masterminded the entire Princes of Malibu show (remember that? re watch it – its good and very truthful about Malibu Colony).
• Brody was seen on The Real OC constantly with his friends Taylor Mosher (LA native, promoter and designer for ArchAngel and known as “Sleazy T” on The Hills), Ryan Cook (the adorable Canadian promoter with blonde curls, always on The Hills), and Frankie Delgado (who I love, also a promoter and a regular on The Hills).
• Spencer Pratt went to Crossroads (high school) in Los Angeles with Whitney Port, Roxy Olin and his sister Stephanie Pratt.
• Then The Hills segways into The City and Whitney brings along bff Roxy Olin - on which Olivia Palmero, already made famous by www.socialightrank.com, becomes a reality star
• The City with Olivia Palmero paves the way for High Socity with Tinsely Mortimer
• Sean Stewart is on Celebrtiy Rehab with Seth Binzer (Crazytown)
• Princes of Malibu paves the way for Sons of Hollywood with Sean Stewart, Randy Spelling (John Thomas Dye) and David Weintraub, all LA Natives
• Chad Rogers, a realtor and LA (Maibu) native, who is friends with all these people, gets a show -Million Dollar Listing - with two other realtors & LA Natives –  Josh Flagg AND Madison!

Paris Hilton
Show: Simple Life
Parents: Father Rick Hilton is co-founder of residential brokerage Hilton and Hyland.
High School: Buckley, Paris also went to the Palm Valley school in the Desert.

Nicole Richie
Show: Simple Life
Parents: Lionel Richie
High School: Buckley

The suscess of the two L.A. heiresses on the road inspired E!’s  Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive which was basically the Simple Life meets City Slickers, but not so good.

Courtenay Semel

Parents: Courtnay Semel’s dad is Terry Semel, former CEO of Yahoo, LA Dodgers, and Warner Bros. She also has a brother named Eric Semel, an entrepreneur.

During this time, Paris’ childhood friend, Brody Jenner and his older brother Brandon were coming of age in Malibu and decided to get in on the game … together with their good friend Spencer Pratt, they created the show ”The Princes of Malibu”  for Fox, which premiered on July 10, 2005. The series followed around the three boys who threw parties and had outdoor screenings on jumbo screens at the mom, the former Miss Tennessee USA Linda Thompson, and her husband, David Foster’s, house in Malibu.

Then came Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County … no L.A. people here but another mix was beginning to brew … Brody Jenner started dating fellow reality TV personality Kristin Cavallari. Brody appeared on the show as her boyfriend from time to time and would be along his buddies Frankie Delgado, Ryan Cook, Spencer Pratt and Taylor Mosher.

Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County introduced us to Lauren Conrad, then “LC” who won the spin-off show “The Hills” where L.A. Natives Whitney Port, Spencer Pratt and his sister Stephanie became cast members.

And shortly thereafter Brody’s step sisters, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney got their own show … Keeping up wtih the Kardashians on E!

Brody Jenner:

Parents: Bruce Jenner, former Miss Tennessee USA Linda Thompson, briterh: Brandon. Step father – David Foster.
Brody Jenner went to Malibu High, then Crossroads. His mother is Linda Thompson, former Miss Tennessee and used to live with Elvis Presley before marrying Bruce Jenner. Later married uber music producer David Foster. His older brother Brandon also went to Malibu High.

Spencer (& Stephanie) Pratt:

Spencer Pratt grew up in the Palisades and went to Crossroads, as did his sister Stephanie. His father is a dentist. He went to USC for a couple of years, but dropped out and created “The Princes of Malibu.” He also used to manage a few people including Brody Jenner and rapper Ya Boy (“We Run LA”).

PRISM owner Jared Najjar used to be the financier behind Brody and Spencer’s success. They had all started a jewelry company called Archangel with their friend Taylor Mosher (also on The Hills).

Kim, Kourtney & Khloe Kardashian
Show: Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami, The Celebrity Apprentice (Khloe)

High school: Marymount High School (Kourtney)
Parents: Robert Kardashian, attorney, Bruce Jenner married their mother Kris.

The Hills dragged on with Specncer/Heidi, Hedi/Lauren, Audrina/Justin Bobby drama, leaving room for Whitney Port to be mildly interesting and get her own show, “The City”, with Kelly Cutrone, and also managed to get her best friends from  high school (Crossroads) cast, Roxy Olin.

Soon Kelly Coutrone – the boss of them – will have her own spin -off show “Kell on Earth” … whatever – I’ve talked and emailed with her plenty of times – she even offered me a job once – and she is not that bad. Seriously.
