Joaquin Phoenix Friends and Family Concert at the Sunset Towers
I don't need much of an excuse to go to the Sunset Towers but Tuesday was a no brainer. My friend invited me up to hear from Heart Phoenix *(founder of The Peace Alliance and mother of Rain, Joaquin, River, Summer and Liberty) talk about her life's work and new act in the U.S. House and Senate under her charity The Peace Alliance. All of Heart's children including Joaquin Phoenix (no beard) were there to watch and be proud. Casey Affleck and his wife Summer Affleck (aka Summer Phoenix) [...]
Could You be a Real Housewife from Beverly Hills? Take the Quiz and Find Out!!
You know you could, would or should be a REAL Housewives of Beverly Hills if .... 1. You have gotten drunk with Pepe at the Polo Lounge. 2. You know who Pepe is. 3. You order truffle eggs benedict at the Beverly Wilshire – even though it costs more than the steak. 4. You will only go to the Cedars emergency room, since you have donated there, or know someone who has. 5. You do not eat anywhere NEW unless the chef there is from a very OLD restaurant. 6. You know exactly [...]
Kimvo Salon at the Montage in Beverly Hills – My New Favorite Place!
I met Russell and Kimvo - the team behind the KIMVO salons - at a Chanel pre-fall fashion show at Saks 5th Avenue (here in Beverly Hills). They told me they recently opened up a salon inside the newly built Montage hotel just down the street from my house on Burton Way. The Montage - which is located on Canon & Wilshire has already become my home away from home as it's the first and only hotel that won the Mobile Awards within two months of opening - a massive exception because they usually [...]
Ashlee Margolis, Nico Mizrahi & Max Winkler Birthdays at the Avalon Hotel!
Wednesday night this week L.A. natives and friends turned out for Ashlee Margolis (The A List) & Nico Mizrahi (hedge fund manager), who went to Oakwood and Crossroads in L.A. respectively, had double birthday at Oliverio at Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Natives include Kidada Jones (Buckely), Jenni Kayne (Crossroads), Anita Ko, Irene Neuwirth (Harvard Westlake), Darren Romanelli (Brentwood, FYI - he also has a cool new collaboration in stores in London and Japan), Erin Foster [...]

Monday: My family will remain in Malibu tonight to avoid the congestion expected back around our Hancock Park home where Obama will speak at a fundraiser hosted by TV producer John Wells' (“ER” and “The West Wing”) house, co-hosts include Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Jeff Katzenberg, J.J. Abrams and Warner Bros. Entertainment President and COO Alan Horn. UPDATE: Dear Obama, Please do not visit us anymore. You are a RA-tard to drive from Century City to Hancock Park parties [...]
Will Rogers Ranch Foundation’s “Dog Iron Polo Match & Champagne Brunch”
I spoke with Jennifer Rogers this week - she is the great-granddaughter of Will Rogers (actor and Beverly Hills' first mayor). This weekend she will host, along with Dennis Quaid, Barneys New York, Veuve Clicquot and Max Studio, a polo tournamnet to raise money for the Will Rogers Ranch Foundation which provides extra funds for her great grandfather namesake park and polo fields in the Palisades - where I, and many of my friends, learned to ride. EVENT UPDATE!! The WRRF’s 1st Annual [...]
“Seu Jorge” Private Concert at the Palihouse – Erika Christensen, Devon Aoki, Fernando Diez Barroso and Mario Caldato
While I probably shouldn't be eating hamburgers, there is one I never refuse. The Palihouse Burger (with aioli on a toasted pain rustique) is a Brasserie Courtyard treat of Kings and young Hollywood starlets who frequent the Holloway Drive hotel. Every time I go the Palihouse I am reminded of what a small family operation it truly is ... The dapper hotel gatekeeper Walter McCready never fails to navigate tricky last minute table requests and the lovely hotel publicist Kazu Namise (who [...]
Drake Performs BlackBerry Torch From AT&T U.S. Launch Party – Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Scott, Cristina Ricci, Rashida Jones
Adrian Grenier is a trooper he was the first person I saw (giving interviews on the red carpet) and last person I saw at the party (mingling on the curb in front of BlackBerry's free hot dog truck) tonight while leaving the party. Despite the swarm of paparazzi 30 feet downwind of the exit, they for some reason didn't seem to notice. Lots of LA Natives tonight including Rashida Jones (actress & daughter of Quincy Jones) who was hanging out with Joel Madden, Anthony Mandler (music video [...]
Hollywood Meets the Hill: New Political Column Asks Celebrities What They Would Say in 5 Minutes with The President
Our friends over at The Creative Coalition (representing Hollywood in Washington DC) just told me CEO Robin Bronk will be furthering their mission to connect Washington DC with the world via Hollywood (a genius plan and one of my future missions as well) in a new column she is writing for The Hill's gossip section "Washington Scene". The Hill's (DC's newspaper and online blog) Washington Scene is literally better than Page Six and one of my models for The Daily Truffle. They go inside [...]
Advanced Screening & the Premiere of Middle Men: A Very Cool New Film about the Advent of Internet Porn & the Kings Who Got their First (Luke Wilson)
My friend took me to a director's screening of this film at the ICM screening room inside the MGM building last year that I like to call a BOOGIE NIGHTS (because it's sexy, cool and about porn) THE SOCIAL NETWORK (because it's about the people who got on the internet bandwagon first) meets BLOW (cause it's dangerous). The coolest things about this film is that the director - who was present for the screening - had this Range Rover in the parking with cute little MIDDLE MEN license plates [...]

Though the King has resigned, Valentino's new designers are keeping on point with Valentio's greatest notes, including bows. These half-glove bows for fall 2010 are fantastic and come in three colors.
Gypset Hit the New Palihouse Rooftop in West Hollywood – Lord Freddie Windsor, Donovan Leitch, Eduardo de la Renta & Antonia von Salm
Who says there is no European scene in L.A.? The truth is more Europeans than ever are passing through town for fun, work and parties. British ex-pats like Liberty Ross & Rupert Sanders live together in the Hollywood Hills, Dasha Zhukova and the Scarry sisters (Olympia in particular) have come through town several times this year for the MOCA and Calvin Klien parties, and others like Andreas Casiraghi come through just for a little "R & R". Antonia von Salm, granddaughter of the [...]
James Franco is Allen Ginsberg in new movie “Howl” | Watch New Trailer on The Daily Truffle
James Franco finally gets to play a poet. The poet himself lands the role of a lifetime. Anyone close to James Franco knows he writes his own poetry and is very into the arts. That was why it was so funny when he picked up a part in General Hospital, but that is how James is. Ever the artist, he likes to do different things. Now in the role of a life time for James - he will be playing the part of Allen Ginsberg opposite Mary Louise Parker - with cameo appearances from archived footage of [...]
LA Native Katharine Karabian (Beverly ’97) & Luca Giovanardi wed in Capri
My friend Katharine Sabine Karabian wed Luca Giovanardi at the Grand Hotel Quisisana in Capri this weekend. In a bold move, Katharine (who graduated from Beverly Hills High school, class of 1997) and Luca one-upped the Sultan of Brunei, who shut down his newly purchased Hotel Bel Air last year with no warning to jilted brides (Katharine found out the news from her trainer), and moved the entire wedding to Italy. Note to Bel-Air, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills Chambers of Commerce. The next [...]

RIP Beverly Hills Hotel Tennis Courts | Constructions on the new bungalows begins :(
Is there anyone reading this with a 90210 zip code who hasn't taken a lesson or made out on one of these two courts at some point in their lives? After a few too many in the Polo Lounge, who hasnt tried to find a dark spot on Bungalow trails to make out - only to wind up lost on the pink and green tennis courts of the Beverly Hills Hotel?? Of course, with everything recorded on camera, security teams would come out and shew you back into the hotel. Half the kids in Beverly Hills take [...]

Ramen Pop-Up Restaurant at Breadbar on 3rd Street in WeHo
I've seen the pop-up store, popularized in L.A. by Commes des Garcon in a downtown alley. I've seen a pop up gym at the Muscle Milk fitness retreat earlier this year. I've seen pop-up food trucks, and pop-up sex books - but I have never in all my years seen a pop-up restaurant within another restaurant. This month, Breadbar hands over it's kitchen to uber Japanese ramen makers "Yatai | Ramen Twist." Twist indeed - this menu offers no breaks to the faint at heart ... the twist is rare options [...]
Dinner on the Bridge! Roosevelt opens The Bridge above the David Hockney Pool for dinners
Dine alfresco this summer at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel above the sparkling David Hockney pool and Tropicana bar **The Roosevelt now lets kids swim in the pool at night. Three years ago, if you fell in the pool on an Alliance night, big fat body guards would rip you out with towels and give you a stern talking-to. Now the boys behind Nightswim (the Thursday night party) have somehow convinced the hotel that their crowd can handle the pool. Kudos to the Roos for easing up on the policy and [...]
