People often ask about the way LACMA works and how new art gets acquired. There are several committees and board that recommend new art throughout the year and this is the main event where curators make the case to donors and board member for a certain acquisition; sometimes the cases are made in conjunction with a board and this is a formality. If you are interested in working your way into the arts on this level, the places to start are LACMA’s Avant Garde, LACMA’s fashion council, or LACMA’s design council.
