You may know Andy’s work from “Dick in a Box” with Justin Timberlake or “Natalie’s Rap” with Natalie Portman, but did you also know he has a full time comedic band that plays songs like this with different celebs since 2005? The band goes by the name – The Lonely Island, a comedy troupe composed of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg — and is about to drop their third album, “The Wack Album,” in stores June 11, 2013. “The Wack Album” features Hugh Jackman, Kristen Wiig, Robyn, Adam Levine, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Too $hort, Pharrell Williams, T-Pain, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Solange. The trio recently released The Wack Album’s lead single, “YOLO” (feat. Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar), which has garnered over 42 million views on YouTube to date.

ABOUT ANDY SAMBERG
Easily one of the most fascinating SNL characters to grace NBC, Andy Samberg, and his long time co-writers Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone (who also made it to Saturday Night Live as writers), is still one of YouTube’s longest running sensations and has turned his focus since leaving the show to his comedic-musical band, The Lonely Island.
ABOUT THE LONELY ISLAND
The Lonely Island and Andy Sandberg from Wikipedia: The Lonely Island, based in New York City, is an American comedy troupe composed of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg, best known for their comedic music. Beginning in junior high school, Samberg, Schaffer, and Taccone began creating live comedy skits that expanded to comedic shorts, music parody (both songs and videos), and one full-length television pilot, before being invited to write portions of the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, which Jimmy Fallon hosted. Impressed with the group’s material, he brought the trio to the attention of Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live, who agreed to see them. The rest is history.
