TV shows have to campaign too u know … Every year around this time, those with voting power, receive their final round of Emmys screeners in the mail Voting for the upcoming 65th Emmys in September officially began June 10 at midnight for all 16,000+ active voting members of the Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences.
Discs from the networks are sent to voters to ensure their nominated shows have a chance in the running with each persons vote. Houses all across LA (and prolly a lot in NY too) have been receiving their DVDs so they can watch and vote.
All networks handle what they send and when they send it differently. The History Channel ones came a few days ago but Showtime probably came two months ago.
Some send one episode they want you to watch while others send the whole season.
HBO sent a CD compilation with like 10 discs, including Games of Thrones, and they only had specific episodes which they highlighted for consideration.
The History Channel sent Vikings (which is like Game of Thrones), the Bible, and some other show.
Discovery sent one.
Downtown Abby sent one.
House of Cards sent the whole season in a box and is Netflix‘s first soon-to-be Emmy nominated show.
