On October 2nd, we will be supporting friend-of-the-Truffle, Amy Cohen Epstein (John Thomas Dye ’88, Brentwood ’94), at KICKIN’ CANCER 5K Walk/Run on San Vicente in Brentwood. Celebrating 15 years of this magnificent event, the walk/run serves as the Lynne Cohen Foundation’s signature and largest fundraising event. Kickin’ Cancer brings together a huge community of women, men and children to support the women in their lives. It is a non-competitive event (no timing) and super fun for the whole family; the older kids love to run/walk the 5K, while there is an adorable Kiddie 1K for the little ones.
Amy and her three sisters created the Lynne Cohen Foundation over 18 years ago in honor and memory of their inspiring mother who lost her battle to ovarian cancer in 1998 at 53-years-old. Since then, they have raised over $15 million and have created, funded and continued to oversee four preventive care clinics for women at an increased risk for breast or ovarian cancer. If you have 5 minutes, check out the two videos at the following links; they provide a background on what the Lynne Cohen Foundation does and the women and family it supports.
