The old Beverly Hills Country Club (tho not quite in Beverly Hills), was acquired in May 2015 by a joint venture including Singerman Real Estate and Meriwether Companies and reopened and more aptly named as The Club. The new company is investing in excess of $10 million to restore the club to its prominence as the premiere social, athletic, and tennis club in Los Angeles. It was initially opened in 1926 by Elmer Griffin, uncle to Merv Griffin, as the Westside Tennis Club.
